Admission to the museum is free every Thursday night to coincide with MainStreet Oceanside's “Sunset Market” evenings, and all profits from the sale of books at the event will benefit the museum.   Books are $15.95 (10% discount to CSM Members)

Beep! Beyond the Frogpond and Back tells the story of a young man coming of age in the Southern California surf culture, surrounded by the social and political upheaval of that era, with the added alienating experience of having to live the last twelve years of his life over again, due to an encounter with a strange and powerful woman he meets on a train to Paris in 1972. The work leads the reader on an entertaining and sometimes painful journey, encompassing San Diego history, happenings on the national scene, the evolution of surf culture during the “short-board revolution,” as well as paradoxical issues of politics, physics, philosophy and cosmology.

Parks is a fourth-generation native of San Diego, a graduate of the University of California San Diego (UCSD), and a long-time member of the WindanSea Surf Club.
